Thursday, October 21st

*** This post is a rough draft ***

On Thursday, we met at 6pm at a church in Dinkytown to get on the bus for Mississippi. Our bus, however, was fashionably late. Then it was unfashionably late. Finally, it was ridiculously late. As 8 pm approached, it became obvious that something was very wrong. Our group leader, Josh, called the bus company, and discovered that the bus had developed a shifting problem and was not able to exceed second gear.

Our waiting experience was not all bad, however. We got a chance to bond and get to know each other, and although we were all anxious to get on the road, perhaps the Lord wanted to teach us some patience.

At 10pm, Josh called a meeting and told us he had some bad news, some good news, and some okay news:
Bad news: The bus was unfixable, at least not without extemely involved repairs.
Good news: We had another bus on the way at 1am.
Okay news: Our 48 person trip was to be taken on a 46-seat bus.

Despite this inconvenience, we were all very happy and excited to get on the road. We were told we could go home, but had to be back at 12:30am. Aaron (my roommate and friend) and I walked back home, and Thursday ended with me still in Minneapolis.
